The Book of Your Life

Never think you’re all done with the book of your life. Fast bound and finished. With no need for more lines.

You’ll shut down the wonder with your list of ‘I know’. There’s nothing to learn trapped inside, cover closed.

Look around and you’ll find more stories to tell. Illustrations to draw, of sights not yet seen.

Be willing to change old words that you wrote. Leave room to be wrong. To rub out and rethink.

Stories change as we grow. They don’t stay the same. New words emerge, through the cracks and the scars.

Edits are hard when you thought you were right. But your chapter and verse need not be stone set.

Break the bindings you’ve wound. Don’t publish too soon. For that last phrase – ‘The End’ – is not yours to write.
